Trending topics are currently a valuable currency in the social media arena, where if executed right can help to increasingly gain visibility and a huge audience.

This is no new topic, but definitely a powerful one. With Twitter being the primary lane of communication for using hashtags, it it has given them a more prominent and influential place.

Demand Sensing Capability

Supply chain planning and manufacturing teams need a short-term forecast view for the planning of different finishing processes. The implementation of a Demand Sensing (DS) capability generates many advantages over the demand plan already used in many companies; to cope with the demand for short-term forecasts, DS provides companies with the necessary tools to meet these challenges. Some DS advantages are: Increases efficiency and productivity Generates an intelligent daily forecast (IDF) It is an agile and flexible system Creates accurate short-term demand forecasts for finished products Reduces inventory levels Generates excellent results without any human intervention...

Game-changing Trends in Supply Chain

A game changer changes the way that something is done, thought about, or made, e.g. new mass-production methods, moving assembly lines, made production affordable for many consumers, etc. We define Game-changing trends as those trends that meet the two basic criteria of being extremely impactful on a firm’s economic profit and shareholder value, as well as very difficult to implement successfully. Fresh ideas about the Game-changing trends faced by supply chain professionals (retailers, manufacturers, and service providers, large and small in size) are hereafter discussed. Focusing on critical customers is the crucial element in new strategies. Why is a Game-changing Trend? The goal is to create customer value commensurate with the economic profit potential of the relationship. Firms face numerous challenges when implementing differentiated supply chain plans, managerial tools and techniques. Thus they developed standard operational capabilities to facilitate a standard and uniform level of service delivery to all customers.

Tomorrow Thinking for Supply Chain

The trends of Supply Chain technology are shaping the future of logistics management. The common thread is the push toward hyper-interoperability – where technology, people and process collaborate to create true visibility, accurate orders, and happy customers. It is impossible to ignore the pressure on retailers and distribution centre (DC) to re-engineer operations to meet the Omni-channel fulfilment mandate. The evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT) –designed to make data more usable is quickly becoming a reality across global supply chains. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT): Definitions of IoT spin around connecting sensors, programmable logic controllers, and RFID data with the Internet so that other systems or analytical software can respond to or make sense of the data. An RF gun, voice recognition, and RFID in the warehouse all provide IoT –style sensor data; it is called the “Industrial Internet of Things” (IIoT) to differentiate from consumer applications.

The Top Five Trends for 2017

Demand-driven Manufacturing (DDM) is an approach to manufacturing where production is based on actual orders rather than forecasts. DDM is also referred to as Flow-driven Manufacturing (FDM) or Just-in-time (JIT) Manufacturing. This is enabled through a synchronised, closed loop process among customer orders, production scheduling, and manufacturing execution of resources, simultaneously coordinating the flow of materials within the supply chain. Modern Demand-driven Manufacturing is based on interactions with hundreds of manufacturers and industry experts – addressing challenges, supporting innovation and introducing technologies. The constant key themes that rise to the top are digitisation, synchronisation and visibility.
